Homegroups

As part of God’s family, caring for each other is a real privilege and a priority activity.  As the Scripture says ‘if one part suffers every part suffers with it, if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.  Now we are the body of Christ and each one of you is part of it’ (1 Corinthians 12 verse 26).

The prime place where every day pastoral care and encouragement takes place is in our homegroups; that is one reason why we encourage our members to join such a group.  In these small groups we get to know each other well which enables us to provide care for each other when we need it.

Mondays @ 7:30pm, Hawkesbury/Hillesley

Leaders: Mike and Bernie Holton
This group comprises individuals from a variety of different backgrounds, some with children in school while others of us have grandchildren! With busy work/family lives some of us meet in person at the same time we also provide the option to meet via Zoom. Our meeting typically includes a time of Bible study and prayer which often focuses on the needs of the group members. We also enjoy socializing when the opportunity arises. New members to this group are welcome. You don't have to be from Hawkesbury or Hillesley and as mentioned above you can join us through Zoom if this is best for you.

Tuesdays @ 2-3:30pm, Wotton

Leader: David Wilson
We are a small group of mostly retired people, meeting in the homes of the group members. There is a relaxed atmosphere, we enjoy each other’s company, and on arrival we have a short time of fellowship together and refreshments.  We seriously study the Scriptures and everybody can participate if they want to; the study topic and discussion questions each week are usually provided in advance so that we can prepare beforehand.  We also seek to encourage each other with prayer and support where we can.

Tuesdays @ 8pm (alternate weeks), Stone/Charfield

Coordinator: Diana Baker
Our group started just over a year ago, mostly made up of people who have recently joined WBC.  We are a relaxed and informal group, with diverse ages and backgrounds, and seek to understand better how our Christian beliefs shape our lives, supporting one another through life’s trials and joys as we do so.

Tuesdays @ 7:30pm, Dursley

Leader: David King
We are based in Dursley and Cam.  Most of us live there and we normally meet in a home in Dursley.  Our meetings start at 7.30pm with refreshments and conversation, and last about 2 hours.  Each evening includes a time of study as well as prayer, for each other and for other current concerns.  We use a variety of resources to assist our studies and vary what we study; sometimes a book or letter from the Bible, sometimes as thematic study and sometimes using the previous Sunday’s sermon, but always Bible based.  Membership is mixed-age ranging from young parents to some well into retirement years.  This provides a good range of views and experiences and encourages wide-ranging discussion.  New members are always welcome.

Wednesdays @ 8pm, Wotton

Leaders: Elizabeth Woodland and Judy Breavington
Our homegroup is where we try and apply the teaching we receive on Sundays and discover what it means in our daily lives. We enjoy fellowship, worshipping and praying together. We meet in Wotton, currently in someone's home. In the summer we enjoy picnicing together. You are welcome to join us.

Wednesdays @ 2pm (2nd and 4th weeks), WBC

Leaders: Derek and Diane French
The Explore Group is mainly for those who are looking further into the Bible and the Christian faith and seeks to address their questions and concerns. We meet in person in the afternoon on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month and always start with tea, coffee and cake! We are very happy to welcome new people.

Wednesdays @ 7:30pm, Wotton

Leader: Phil Green

Twelve people are in this group which meets weekly at 7.30pm. The meetings usually follow a similar pattern - we first catch up with news of each other and share topics which we then pray about together. This is followed by a Bible study and/or discussion on issues in the Christian life and, occasionally, a quiz. We would welcome others joining.

Fridays @ 2pm, Wotton

Leader: Mary Fenner

We are a group of about 14 women of diverse age and nationality who meet weekly on Fridays from 2 to 4 pm in WBC. We also have two vibrant whatsapp groups for staying in touch, sometimes from around the world, where we share matters for prayer, connection and rejoicing. We are inclusive, welcoming and flexible in our meeting format, which includes meals, communion, bible study, fellowship and a strong emphasis on prayer.  Our main priorities are keeping our focus on the heart of Jesus and showing his love to each other and the wider community.
