Homegroups

As part of God’s family, caring for each other is a real privilege and a priority activity.  As the Scripture says ‘if one part suffers every part suffers with it, if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.  Now we are the body of Christ and each one of you is part of it’ (1 Corinthians 12 verse 26).

The prime place where every day pastoral care and encouragement takes place is in our homegroups; that is one reason why we encourage our members to join such a group.  In these small groups we get to know each other well which enables us to provide care for each other when we need it.

Wednesdays @ 7:30pm, Wotton

Leader: Jill Wilson
We are a small group of women who meet every other Wednesday evening in the upstairs youth room at church. We start with a quick catch up before our Bible study and we then share any needs/thanks and pray for one another. The atmosphere is relaxed and the structure flexible. We have a heart for other mums and local schools in the area.

Fridays @ 1pm, Wotton

Leader: Louisa Lockwood
WOW (Women of WBC) is for anyone looking to deepen their faith and find encouragement and fellowship in their daily life. It’s a classic formula of Bible study, prayer and fellowship. We are meeting mainly at Wotton Baptist Church and occasionally on Zoom. Everyone is welcome.

Mondays @ 8pm, Hillesley

Leaders: Mike and Bernie Holton
We are based in Hillesley although you can still join us by zoom too.  We often watch short Bible study videos followed by a discussion time and prayer. We also like to socialise!  Anyone is welcome to join in, you don't have to be from Hillesley.

Tuesdays @ 2-3:30pm, Wotton

Leader: David Wilson
We are a group of mostly retired people, meeting in the church on Tuesday afternoon. There is a relaxed atmosphere, we enjoy each other’s company, and on arrival we have a short time of fellowship together and refreshments.  We seriously study the Scriptures and everybody can participate if they want to; the study topic and discussion questions each week are usually provided in advance so that we can prepare beforehand.  We also seek to encourage each other with prayer and support where we can.

Tuesdays @ 7:30pm, Dursley

Leader: David King
We are based in Dursley and Cam and most of us live there or in Berkeley so we normally meet in one of those towns.  However, at present we are using Zoom for remote meetings until we can meet in each other’s homes again.  Our meetings start at 7.30pm and last about 2 hours.  Each evening includes a time of study and finishes with prayer for each other and for other current concerns. We are a mixed-age group which allows for a good range of views and experiences.

Wednesdays @ 8pm, Wotton

Leaders: Elizabeth Woodland and Judy Breavington
We are using the Bible Society RealLyfe series on zoom. Anyone who wants to join us will be more than welcome.

Wednesdays @ 7pm (2nd and 4th weeks), Wotton

Leaders: David and Margaret Barter
The Explore Group is mainly for those who are looking further into the Bible and the Christian faith and seeks to address their questions and concerns. Currently we are meeting via Zoom from 7 to 8.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month and are continuing our studies in John’s gospel, as well as sharing news and praying for one another. We are very happy to welcome new people.

Wednesdays @ 7:30pm, Wotton

Leader: Phil Green
Around ten people comprise this group which meets weekly. Since lockdown we have continued to meet over Zoom in two forty minute parts. We first catch up with news of each other and share topics which we pray about together. After a short break the second part follows with a Bible study and/or discussion on issues in the Christian life and, occasionally, a quiz. Despite the limitations of communication online the group is still functioning well and would welcome others joining.

Wednesdays @ 7:30pm, Charfield

Leaders: Martin and Margaret Barker
We are currently not meeting but would welcome others from Charfield or surrounding area to join us!  We normally catch up over a cup of tea, open in prayer and then spend time studying scripture and sometimes share Communion. Our goal is to be Christ-like in our work places and community, our strength is prayer.
